As any fashionista knows, “effortless” is chic. Characterized by simple, clean silhouettes, minimalist fashion is always stylish and is officially the hottest new thing on the runways. To help you up your fashion IQ, today I’m going to introduce the top three minimalist looks to copy this season.

*Styling Tip #1: Knit Sweater + Wide-legged Pants
Minimalism—a classic mode of dressing that often represents a mix of forever pieces—is once again here to stay. The next time you feel frustrated and bored to tears, not knowing what to wear to work, opt for a simple knit sweater and team it up with a pair of wide slacks. Lightweight knit sweaters are the perfect transition pieces into spring, which can be worn alone or under your favorite trench coat. For the office, pair a cream colored cashmere sweater with a pair of wide-legged slacks in the same or similar color as the top and create a chic tone-on-tone look. Finish with black, nude, or metallic pumps depending on your fashion taste. Remember to go light on the accessories—a simple wristwatch and a pair of small beaded earrings should do the trick.

*Styling Tip #2: Trench Coat + White T and Jeans
In a sea of bright and bold fashion, every so often we are seeing minimalism-inspired spring staples—and we are loving them. Among others, trench coats—the ultimate classic piece for anyone’s wardrobe—are also getting the “minimalism” treatment this spring. Among other designs, minimalist trench coats featuring a bit of a boxy silhouette and dropped shoulderlines are “in” this spring. To create a chic minimalist look, whip out your favorite trench coat in a versatile neutral—everything from beiges, blacks to greys, creams, and whites and wear it over a simple white T and jeans combo, which never goes out of style. Top off the outfit with a pair of stylish white sneakers and you have an effortless spring look.

*Styling Tip #3: Pleated Skirt + Blazers
A pleated-skirt is the number one must-have piece this season. Elegant and feminine to the max, pleated skirts, when styled right, can be a foundational piece for any minimalist look. Tops as plain as a flowy collared buttondown, a loose knit sweater, a simple white t-shirt and more are the perfect complement to a classic pleated skirt. For the office, ditch your everyday pencil skirt and opt for a black pleated skirt and wear it teamed up with a loose-fitting white T-shirt for a little-bit-less conventional office look. Add a structured black blazer to the mix and finish off with a pair of oxfords and a simple tote bag—and you have a lovely outfit.

Rock a minimalist wardrobe now and stay stylish!
