Actor Lee Dong-wook, famous for his role in the hit drama “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God,” has been named an honorary ambassador for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics that kicks off next month.

In a ceremony held in Seoul Friday, Lee joined a slew of other Hallyu stars including actors Lee Min-ho and Kim Woo-bin as the latest goodwill spokesperson for South Korea's first Winter Games. The competition will start on Feb. 8 for a 17-day run in PyeongChang and two other adjacent cities in Gangwon Province.

The organizing committee said Lee will take part in promotional activities for the Olympics and the Paralympics in 2018.
