Swimmer Park Tae-hwan Most Expected Korean to Win Gold at Asiad

Beijing Olympic gold medalist swimmer Park Tae-wan has been picked as the athlete that most Koreans expect to see winning a gold medal during the Incheon Asian Games.

SK Communications, the operator of the portal site Nate, asked four-thousand-951 Koreans across the country who they expect to win a gold medal. The survey, disclosed on Friday, showed that two-thousand-79 people, or 42 percent of the surveyed, said they predicted the 24-year-old swimmer will win.

Rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae came in second with 20 percent, or 968 people, picking her. The 20-year-old is looking to become the first Korean rhythmic gymnast to win a gold at the Asian Games.

Yang Hak-seon, the London Olympic gold medalist in vault who is also the defending champion of the Asian Games, was third at 17 percent.

Seven percent of the surveyed said they want to see Korea bring home a gold medal in a ball sport, such as football and baseball. The Korean football team is bidding to win a gold at the Asian Games for the first time in eight years, while its baseball team is seeking to defend its title.
