Swimmer Park Tae-hwan Adds Third Bronze at Incheon Asiad

2014-09-24

South Korean swimmer Park Tae-hwan added another bronze in the men's 400-meter freestyle relay at the Asian Games on Wednesday.

Park was the last swimmer in the team, following Kim Sung-kyum, Yang June-hyuck and Nam Ki-woong. The athletes set a new South Korean record of three minutes and 18-point-44 seconds, but fell behind China and Japan at Munhak Park Tae-hwan Aquatics Center in Incheon.

South Korea has won four straight bronze medals in the event since the Busan Asian Games in 2002.

Park has brought home four medals from the Incheon Asiad so far, winning bronze medals in the freestyle 200- and 400-meter individual events and the 800-meter freestyle relay.

Park's Asian Games medal count has grown to 18, including six gold, three silver and nine bronze.

Park is now only one medal short of tying with shooter Park Byung-taek to win the most medals by a South Korean at an Asiad.

Park will vie for his second straight gold in the 100-meter freestyle individual race on Thursday.
