Swimmer Park Tae-hwan has tied to win the most medals by a South Korean at an Asian Games by clinching the silver in the men's 100-meter freestyle race on Thursday.
Park clocked 48-point-75 seconds to rank behind Ning Zetao of China, who finished with 47-point-seven seconds. Shinri Shioura of Japan took the bronze.
Park, who grabbed a gold in the event at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games with both a South Korean national record and an Asiad record, failed to achieve two golds back to back.
But Thursday's win put Park on equal footing with shooter Park Byung-taek to pick up the most medals by a South Korean at the Asian Games.
Park's Asian Games medal count has grown to 19, including six gold, four silver and nine bronze.
Park will compete in the one-thousand-500-meter freestyle race and the 400-meter medley relay on Friday, which could also boost his medal count.
South Korean swimmers also won a silver on Thursday in women's 400-meter medley relay event with a new South Korean record of four minutes and point-482 seconds.
