South Korea added gold medals in men's tennis and kayak sprint on the eleventh day of the Incheon Asian Games on Monday.
The tennis duo of Lim Dong-kyu and Chung Hyeon clinched gold in the men's doubles, beating India seven-five, seven-six to win the nation's first gold in the event in 28 years.
South Korean paddler Cho Gwang-hee took first place in the kayak single 200 meter race in the men’s sprint event with a time of 35-point-464 seconds, grabbing the nation's first gold in the event since the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing.
The South Korean women's team, comprised of Lee Sun-ja, Kim You-jin, Lee Hye-ran and Lee Min, took a silver medal in the kayak four 500-meter sprint with a time of one minute 36-point-890 seconds. It was South Korea's first silver in the kayak event in 12 years. China clocked one minute 34-point-477 seconds to seize the gold medal.
Also on Monday, Lee Sun-ja added a bronze in the women's kayak single 500-meter sprint.
In wrestling, South Korea earned four bronze medals in the men's freestyle. Lee Seung-chul, Lee Sang-kyu, Kim Gwan-uk and Nam Koung-jin finished third in the 61-, 74-, 86- and 125-kilogram events.
As of Monday evening, South Korea ranked second in the total medal tally with 44 gold, 50 silver and 52 bronze.
