N. Korea to Dispatch Sports Minister to Incheon Asian Games

2014-09-05

North Korea has submitted a list of 273 people that will participate in the upcoming Incheon Asian Games, including Sports Minister Kim Yong-hun.

South Korea's unification ministry said Friday North Korea’s Olympic Committee, chaired by Kim, sent the list to the organizing committee of the Incheon Asian Games through the truce village of Panmunjeom.

The list also included Vice Chairman of the committee Son Kwang-ho, senior member Jang Su-myong and three other delegation members.

The visit by Sports Minister Kim, who emerged after the launch of the Kim Jong-un regime, will draw a high amount of attention as he would be the highest ranking North Korean official to visit South Korea in recent years. North Korean media reported he was named as sports minister in May.

Aside from the Olympic Committee members, a total of 267 people including athletes and reporters were included in the list.
