KBS World Radio 17th Asian Games INCHEON 2014

The athletes' village for the Incheon Asian Games has officially opened with an opening ceremony Friday morning.

The ceremony was held at the Guwol Asiad Athletes' Village in with Asian Games Organizing Committee President Kim Young-soo, and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Kim Jong-deok in attendance.

The athletes' village has more than two-thousand-two-hundred units and is capable of accommodating up to 15-thousand people.

About 450 athletes from 21 countries have already arrived at the village and some 350 athletes including the Iraqi delegation are slated to arrive later Friday.

The delegations already present have hung their national flags outside the buildings to make their presence known.

The organizing committee said it will create a convenient and pleasant environment at the village so that the athletes will show their best performances in the games set to begin on September 19.
