The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on Thursday that it launched the bidding process to choose a company that will carry out a feasibility study and basic planning for the expansion of Gimhae Airport.

The government will spend roughly six trillion won to add facilities to Gimhae Airport so that it can handle 38 million passengers annually, including runways and a passenger terminal. The government is aiming to complete the effort by 2026.

The selected bidder will, from June, carry out feasibility studies and basic planning for the airport’s expansion for 12 months.

The ministry believes the expansion project is the fundamental solution to satisfying the surge in air transport demand in the country’s southeastern area.
