The military prosecution has raided the residence and the offices of Army General Park Chan-ju, intensifying its investigation into the alleged abuse of enlisted soldiers stationed at his residence.

A military official said the military prosecution on Wednesday launched the search and seizure concurrently at several places resided at or used by the disgraced four-star general, including his official residence at the Second Operational Command in Daegu.

Four other venues, including offices at the Daegu command and his private houses in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province and Gyeryong in South Chungcheong Province, were also the subjects of simultaneous raids.

The raids took place five days after the military prosecution launched an investigation into accusations that Park and his wife forced soldiers to do household chores, including laundry for their son and backyard farming, under inhumane conditions.
