A local court has ruled against consumers of Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Note 7 smartphone in a class action lawsuit.
The Seoul Central District Court on Wednesday rejected the lawsuit filed by one-thousand-871 in November last year seeking a combined 930 million won in compensation for their inconveniences after the recall of the device and the production discontinuation.
The court said in its ruling that it’s hard to see the defendants suffered inconveniences beyond a socially accepted level from the recall as they could get a full refund or replacement at shops.
The court said that the recall measure naturally entails the inconvenience of visiting shops multiple times for replacements and installing applications again on the replaced phones.
It added that the inconveniences claimed by the defendants should be deemed compensated through refund or replacement.
