In six months, the PyeonChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games will open.

Under the slogan, “Passion. Connected.” the games will begin on February ninth for a 17-day run. Competitions will be held throughout Pyeongchang, Gangneung and Jeongseon, all in Gangwon Province.

The upcoming games are the third to be held in Asia and the first to be hosted by South Korea.

The last time South Korea hosted an Olympic event was in 1988 when it organized the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.

In the upcoming event, a record of roughly 65-hundred athletes and coaches from some 100 countries will compete in 15 events. A total of 102 gold medals are up for grabs.

South Korea is aiming to rank fourth in the overall medal tally by securing up to eight gold medals. Its best score so far was posted in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics when it came in fifth in the medal ranking.
