An editorial by U.S.-based North Korea monitoring Web site "38 North" says U.S. media deserves a share of blame for the recent escalation of tensions between the U.S. and North Korea.
The column points out recent headlines of U.S. media outlets highlight that Pyongyang would never negotiate with Washington on its nuclear and missile programs. However, 38 North says that was actually a conditional warning from the North.
The column says many outlets omitted the second half of North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho's refusal to negotiation, which said “unless the hostile policy and nuclear threat of the U.S. against the D.P.R.K. are fundamentally eliminated.”
The D.P.R.K. stands for the Democratic Republic of Korea, the official name of the communist country.
