North Korea's state-run media has called for the production of more state-of-the-art weapons on the 69th anniversary of its founding on Saturday.

Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the North's ruling Workers' Party, claimed in an editorial that the North's status has been enhanced as a nuclear power.

The editorial said a strong nuclear arsenal will secure the security of the nation and people, urging all-out efforts for a final victory.

The paper also urged the continuation of its so-called dual policy of developing nuclear weapons and building a strong self-reliant economy.
