The THAAD antimissile system in Seongju, North Gyeongsang Province is now fully operational.

Eighth U.S. Army Commander Lieutenant General Thomas Vandal visited the base of the U.S. missile defense battery in Seongju County on Tuesday and oversaw the completion of preparations to install four additional THAAD launchers.

The fire control unit for the launchers was also put in place, enabling full-fledged operations of the six-launcher system.

U.S. Forces Korea brought in the four to the county last Thursday and carried out construction of the metal pads on which the launchers have been placed.
