The Seoul Central District Court is expected to decide by Friday whether to extend the detention period of impeached former President Park Geun-hye.
Her current detention period is set to expire on Monday of next week.
Prosecutors argued Tuesday Park's detention should be extended, saying she is unlikely to attend remaining court sessions if released and may even tamper with evidence.
They earlier requested the court to issue an additional arrest warrant for her on bribery charges involving Lotte and SK Groups, which the court did not consider when issuing a previous arrest warrant for her in March.
Park’s legal representatives asked the court not to do that, arguing the charges were already factored into the previous arrest warrant.
Park was removed from power on March tenth, and has been locked in a solitary cell since being indicted in April on 18 charges related to abuse of power.
