Voice of America(VOA) reports Portugal confirmed it has broken off diplomatic ties with North Korea.
VOA said Wednesday Portuguese authorities ended all official contact with the North in July.
The Portuguese embassy in Washington told VOA the measure is in line with international efforts to restrain the North Korean regime’s hostile actions.
The embassy said pressure will lead the North to engage in dialogue towards abandoning its nuclear and missile programs.
Mexico, Peru, Kuwait and Spain have all expelled the North Korean ambassadors to their countries in recent months, while Thailand and the Philippines drastically reduced economic ties with the North.
