A KBS documentary has received the top honor in the TV documentary category at the ABU Prizes award ceremony of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union held in Chengdu, China on Friday.
The special three-part documentary "A Cruel Gift" depicts the battle of cancer patients and their caretakers in their journey of accepting death and parting with loved ones.
Celebrating the ABU award, KBS will air the documentary again next month including special footage with updates on how the people shown in the program are currently doing.
A KBS World Radio program titled "The 3rd Korean Language Video Contest-Speak Korean, Dream High" was also honored in the interactive program category.
The ABU Prizes are hosted by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union whose members include some 270 broadcast firms in the region.
Awards are given to programs deemed as contributing to regional diversity and advancing broadcast culture.
This year, 280 entries were submitted by 50 nations.
