The South Korean government has expressed condolences to the people of Iran and Iraq, after a strong earthquake along the border regions between the two countries caused hundreds of deaths and thousands of casualties.

Seoul's foreign ministry released a statement on Tuesday, saying that the government hopes the affected regions will be swiftly restored and that the Iranian and Iraqi people will be able to return to their daily lives as soon as possible.

The seven-point-three magnitude earthquake broke out Sunday evening local time, leaving more than 400 dead and over 65-hundred injured.
