South Korean boy band BTS has been added to this year’s Guinness World Records for having the world’s most Twitter engagements for a male music group.
The band's agency BigHit Entertainment said on Wednesday that BTS was listed in this year’s World Records which was published earlier in September for acquiring the most Twitter retweets for a male music group with a total of 152-thousand-112. The numbers were counted up until May. A retweet refers to the re-posting of a tweet on Twitter.
The record-keeping organization revealed its finding on its official Twitter as it congratulated BTS “on a stellar performance" at the American Music Awards, or AMAs. The organization also posted a video of BTS performing at the awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles last Sunday.
After the BTS's performance, which was the first ever by a K-pop group, related tweets reached some 20 million.
Harry Styles, a member of boy band One Direction, was listed as having the world’s most Twitter engagements for a male musician and Beyoncé for a female musician.
