South Korea has been placed with Germany, Sweden and Mexico in the main round of next year's FIFA World Cup in Russia.

At the draw ceremony held at the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow Friday, South Korea was drawn into Group F for next year’s football tournament.

Advancing to the round of 16 is not expected to be easy for the Taekgeuk warriors, led by coach Shin Tae-yong, considering the group's makeup.

Germany is number one in FIFA rankings and champion of the 2014 Brazil World Cup. Sweden ranks 18th and Mexico 16th in the FIFA world rankings.

Team Korea will play their first match against Sweden in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod on June 18th next year. It will then face Mexico in Rostov-on-Don on June 24th and then Germany on the 27th in Kazan.
