President Moon Jae-in has positively assessed the progress of a government project to provide self-sustaining homes for the most vulnerable members of society.
Moon was speaking Thursday at an open house ceremony for “energy-zero homes” in Nowon District in northeastern Seoul.
Moon said it was inspiring to see that energy-zero homes are becoming a model case in housing welfare policies.
Explaining his administration’s energy policy, the president said the government is seeking a paradigm shift from nuclear energy to renewable energy.
He said the ample provision of energy self-sufficient villages and apartments will greatly aid his administration's new energy policy, adding the homes in Nowon mark a successful beginning.
Energy-zero homes are rental housing complexes provided by the government that produce enough energy for their occupants' basic needs through geothermal heat or sunlight.
