Seoul's Defense Ministry says inter-Korean military talks will be arranged once the size of the North Korean delegation to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics is confirmed.
An official of the ministry made the comment Friday in response to a reporter's question about when it will make an official proposal for military talks with the North. The official said the military talks are focused on necessary measures to ensure the success of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
The size of the North Korean delegation to PyeongChang will be confirmed after the two Koreas hold working-level talks with each other and the International Olympic Committee(IOC) to discuss details about the North's participation in the PyeongChang Winter Games.
The IOC is scheduled to host South and North Korea to discuss the matter in Lausanne, Switzerland on Saturday of next week. The two Koreas have yet to set the date for their own working-level talks.
Meanwhile, the South Korean military is checking a recently reopened inter-Korean military hotline to make sure the communication is smooth ahead of the military talks.
