A prosecutorial task force created to investigate a sexual misconduct allegation within the prosecution has raided the Justice Ministry to secure related evidence.
It was known the special investigation team confiscated documents regarding promotions or transfers of district prosecutor Seo Ji-hyeon at the ministry’s bureau of prosecution, which handles personnel policies and the budget for prosecutors.
Seo has claimed that she was given a disadvantage in personnel policy as retaliation for her whistle-blowing on sexual harassment she said she suffered at the hands of a former senior Justice Ministry official, Ahn Tae-geun, at a funeral in October 2010.
During the task force’s questioning session with Seo on February fourth, she was known to have claimed that the Justice Ministry and the upper echelon of the prosecution inspected her rather than Ahn, and moved her to a remote area. Seo is currently working in the prosecutors office of Tongyeong, a south coast city in South Gyeongsang Province.
