The deputy floor leaders of the major ruling and opposition parties have failed to reach an agreement on a supplementary budget and a special counsel probe on the "druking" online opinion rigging scandal.

Jin Sun-mee of the ruling Democratic Party on Wednesday met her counterparts from the largest opposition Liberty Korea Party and the center-right Bareunmirae Party, Yun Jae-ok and Oh Shin-hwan, at the National Assembly to discuss the issues.

However, they failed to narrow their differences on some issues, including the duration and scope of the special counsel investigation into the scandal.

The deputy floor leaders will meet again on Thursday to resume negotiations.
