The number of reported cases of "dating violence" is increasing sharply in South Korea.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family said Thursday that three-thousand-903 cases were reported in the January-to-April period through its Women Emergency Call Center. That's more than double the number of requests for help that were recorded during the same period last year.

The National Police Agency estimates the number of reported dating violence cases during the four-month period at four-thousand-848, up 26 percent from a year earlier.
