South Korean slugger Choo Shin-soo of the Texas Rangers has broken the team's single-season on-base record after extending his streak to 47 games.
In his final at-bat against the Detroit Tigers on Sunday local time, Choo hit an infield single off reliever Victor Alcantara in the ninth inning in the Rangers' 3-0 win at Comerica Park in Detroit.
With the latest achievement, Choo broke the team’s on-base record for a season previously held by Julio Franco, who reached base in 46 consecutive games in 1993.
Choo has been on base in every game since May 13th. It's the longest such streak in the majors this season and the longest since Joey Votto of the Cincinnati Reds had a 48-game streak in 2015.
