President Moon Jae-in has been named an honoree of the Global Citizen Awards 2017 by the Atlantic Council, a U.S. think tank on international cooperation and conflict resolution.
In a press release Thursday, Seoul's top office said President Moon is among this year's honorees, along with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Chinese pianist and philanthropist Lang Lang.
Moon will receive the honor at an award ceremony during his visit to New York next week to attend the UN General Assembly.
The presidential office said the Global Citizen Awards has been granted since 2010 to figures who have contributed to advancing democracy and civic awareness.
