The government has announced measures to promote a shorter working-hour system.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and related ministries made the announcement at the Government Complex in Seoul on Thursday.
The government decided to further assist companies that have shortened working hours and created jobs by supporting the payment of new hires and guaranteeing wages of existing employees
Under the expanded job sharing project, businesses with more than 300 employees will receive 600-thousand won per person monthly in compensation for hiring new recruits. The amount is up from the current 400-thousand won.
In order to boost productivity of companies where longer working hours are required, the ministry will offer other types of support ranging from consultations to vocational training opportunities while promoting the benefits of a flexible working-hour system.
